Five questions before buying a pricing engine
Executive summary
Ask what data drives the recommendation, whether information from other customers is used, who can override a price, whether historical decisions can be reconstructed, and how records are exported at exit.
Turn the answers into service specifications. Data originating from other businesses merits a separate competition-law review; software use does not establish compliance. Test low stock, expired promotions, bad inputs and outages, including who notices an incorrect recommendation.
